BMX vert professional Jamie Bestwick won his ninth consecutive overall BMX vert title on Saturday at the Dew Tour Beach Championships in Ocean City, Md. Bestwick edged past Vince Byron (second) and Steve McCann (third) for the win.

To date, no other rider in the history of the Dew Tour has ever won a Dew Cup in BMX vert.

Bestwick's runs included 540 variations, seat grab no-footed can cans in the 10-foot range, and new for Bestwick, a front flip flair to top off the end of his final run. Bestwick was already in the lead heading into his third and final run, and potentially could have taken it easy during a glory run, but he put together his best run of the contest to finish with a score of 94.00. He finished almost 5 full points of Byron in second place.

Referencing the front flip flair, a trick new to his repertoire, Bestwick commented "Sometimes, old dogs learn new tricks."

In second place, Vince Byron landed a rarely seen 540 double tailwhip, finishing with a score of 89.75.

Last month, Bestwick, 41, secured his eighth consecutive X Games gold medal in BMX Vert at X Games Barcelona.
