Alex Raban Travel Essentials
Volume Bikes team rider Alex Raban
As he continues to stack footage for an upcoming Volume video, Volume Bikes team rider Alex Raban has caught the travel bug. Recently, XGames.com caught up with Raban to check out what his travel essentials are. "From leaving town to visit a city for a week, to visiting a new state or country, traveling has attached to me like a bug. Meeting new people and gaining new experiences along the way is what I love," says Raban.
"Over the years of traveling, I've learned to keep a lighter set of gear, especially if you're in a country jumping on trains and moving around quickly. I like to only take things that I know I will use most of the time," says Raban.
"Well, this covers the important essentials to say the least. I like to keep things dialed in so that I don't have to worry about it on trips," says Raban. "I have everything from hygiene needs to Tiger Balm and ACU tape for sprains and injuries."
Assortment of head wear
"I like to bring a few different kinds of head wear mainly so I'm not constantly wearing the same thing all of the time. Since my hair has now turned into a giant mullet/fro, I need something to control the mane while riding," says Raban.
Bananas and water
"The two things I love the most. Seriously bananas are awesome, I mean look at monkeys they are all packed full of energy. And with water, I have gotten into the habit of drinking a gallon a day and more when riding a full day," says Raban.
Headphones and iPhone
"Since my iPod died, I use my iPhone for music. I gotta' have the jams, whether it be hanging out or putting on a track to get myself hyped up to try a trick. Sometimes I even use it as a boom box to wake everyone up on trips to get the day started," says Raban.
Shin guards and ankle braces
"These guards have saved my legs multiple times and saved me from getting seriously injured. After I dislocated my ankle and was out for six months, I was certain that I would have to find something to prevent that," says Raban.
Tool kit and extra grips
Raban never leaves home with a good assortment of tools and extra ODI grips.
"I like to keep a assortment of different shirts, whether it be for riding, chilling or getting down on the dance floor. Sometimes I'll hit local thrift stores to pick up new gear during trips to freshen things up too," says Raban.
"This last year has been a blast traveling and filming for the Volume DVD 'Shoot your future.' I was going out of state almost every five weeks with the crew and loved every minute of it," says Raban. "I'm really excited to see the footage of the rest of the team from this past year and part of 2014 as well."
