Travel essentials with Simone Barraco
Bag check with Simone Barraco
X Games BMX Street athlete Simone Barraco spends the majority of his time on the road. Originally from Genoa, Italy, Barraco ventured to the U.S. earlier in the summer to spend time at Woodward Camp before heading to Los Angeles to compete at X Games Los Angeles.
Considering he's away from home for most of the summer, Simone travels light.
"Some people may not know that there are actually all kinds of different outlets and plugs around the world. The one we have in Italy is different than the one in the U.S. and different from the one that they have in the U.K. so that thing allows me to charge my phone and computer wherever I am. My passport is the only thing that I can use to show my ID when Im not in Italy, so I must always have it with me when I travel, especially if I want to get on a plane or go inside a club in the States." --Simone
"I really like to draw, and it happens to be the best way for me to kill the time especially if I have to sit for hours on a long flight." --Simone
"All that I need to keep in contact with friends and family back home is my iPhone. Im always trying to get wifi so that I can text whoever I want and check some stuff on the Internet. Its always the easiest way to take simple pictures to remember some good times on trips. I also have headphones to listen to some music usually when I travel and fly. And then of course I always have my wallet to bring money with me." --Simone
"I like hats, so of course I like to have a bunch with me on trips. I also dont really enjoy hanging out at night wearing the same hat that I was wearing in the sun all day while I was riding." --Simone
"Stickers are really easy to bring with me so why not? You can meet kids riding and they would love some stickers so you give them a bunch. You may change your frame or parts out during a trip so I like to be able to put some new stickers on whenever I need them no matter where I am. I also carry the Shadow multi-tool. It has all that you need to build and fix your bike and its super easy to bring everywhere with me." --Simone
