Travel essentials with Chris Doyle
Chris Doyle's travel essentials
X Games BMX Dirt and Park rider Chris Doyle travels often, and he prefers to keep it simple. "If you ask me, my travel gear is comprised of pretty basic stuff. However, to me, while traveling it's important to be comfortable and practical. These are the things that help get me by while on the road. Big thanks to Rockstar for the great bag that is good for traveling and holding my pads and tools!"
Airborne, deodorant, and comb
"Germ wise, airplanes are pretty gnarly. When I was younger, after long flights I used to always come away with a cold or the sniffles. To prevent that from happening now, before flying, I load up on vitamin c to boost my immune system. Airborne is perfect for that -- no more sniffles! Deodorant goes without saying, especially if you've ever smelled a person who's just been on a plane for 10 hours. Also, I pack a comb to keep my side part tight! Ha!"
Sleeping mask and ear plugs
"I have a love/hate relationship with sharing a hotel room with my Kink team manager Jay Roe and fellow team rider Aaron Smith. They're great dudes, but both of them prefer to sleep with the TV on. An eye mask and some earplugs are essential for me to get some sleep on the road when those two are involved."
Almonds and gum
"I hate being hungry. Almonds are an easy way to keep full while on the road. They last a long time and they stick with you for a while. Plus, I'm told they're healthy. I usually bring a toothbrush and toothpaste with me on flights due to 'airplane mouth' (I'm one of the dudes on the plane who falls asleep with his mouth wide open). However, when I forget to bring a toothbrush, gum will work just fine."
Shin guards and gloves
"Honestly, I don't typically travel with my pads in my carry-on. However, as long as I've had that bag, the pads have been inside of it. Big thanks to Fuse Pads for protecting my skin!"
iPhone and headphones
"I don't keep a ton of music on my iPhone, but Pandora is great in airports. I've been known to put my headphones in while not plugged into anything, just in case I sit next to a talker on the plane. I did it to Aaron Ross once. Plus, like most people I know, I'm an Instagram addict."
Hats and beanie
"Always nice to have some fresh hats and a beanie on hand when you need one. Sometimes the hair is too out of control for the comb to handle. Looking good is feeling good."
"Obvious one here. I keep stickers on hand to give away to the kids, and to keep my bike fresh after it gets destroyed in the back of a U-Haul on a two-week stretch."
