X Games Minneapolis 2018: Zoom Photography Contest
Welcome to our biannual World of X Games Zoom photography contest. Every month on XGames.com we take 10 of the most remarkable photos from across the action sports universe and feature them in a gallery called "Zoom." For this contest, we chose six of the best summer-focused images from the past 12 months of Zoom galleries to put to the ultimate test.
Check out the photos below, click on the squares to view the images in all of their full-screen glory, then vote for your favorite shot. This fan-vote-only contest runs through X Games Minneapolis 2018. One vote per day is allowed, so be sure to come back to show your support for your favorite photo. The winner, who will be announced during the live X Games MN broadcast, will be awarded with $10,000 and an X Games gold medal for action sports photography.
Mo Freitas by Morgan Maassen
"A lone surfer enters the menacing shore break at Ke'iki, on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii. This last winter was rife with amazing waves and flawless conditions, making for endless sessions on the wave-rich North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii." -- Morgan Maassen
Madars Apse by Jake Darwen
"This is one of Barcelona's most iconic skate spots. As most of you know, in Barcelona you don't drive. You skate from spot to spot and utilize the accessibility of public transportation. As we passed this narrow kicker, Madars blasted an insane ollie out of it. I was in disbelief when I saw the way he did it. I shot two frames with no flashes, just to see where I was going to put all of my strobes. Then I proceeded to shoot this ollie with flashes. When I got home I assumed the frame with the flashes was my only option. A few weeks later I was going through all of my photos and scrolled past this one in disbelief. How did I not see this the first time around? The look on the man's face says it all." -- Jake Darwen
Raigo Suija by Roman Neimann
"Local rider Raigo Suija boosts a signature cork 360 at his home trail in Viljandi, Estonia, which looks so perfect in every way! Once in a while I like to go there and find some new angles to shoot." -- Roman Neimann
Greg Illingworth by Tim Korbmacher
"I took this shot during the Banana Ramp Project, which is a mobile, quarter-pipe construct based on three pieces you can put wherever you want and build up for whatever you want. For the project in Hamburg, Germany, we invited Greg Illingworth, one of the best ramp riders out there, to handle this ramp and show that it's possible to make unrideable spots rideable. It was the first time I met and shot with Greg, and I was really impressed to see him going to the third floor after only a few warm-up tests." -- Tim Korbmacher
Brody Wilson by MacKenzie Hennessey
"Brody Wilson has put New England FMX on the map. Sure, we might not have sprawling sand dunes that moto fans travel hundreds of miles to ride, but we make the most of the ever-changing seasons and vivid sunsets. Plus, it helps when you have a killer backyard compound. This photo was taken in Templeton, Massachusetts." -- MacKenzie Hennessey
Daewon Song by Anthony Acosta
"The first person that popped into my head was Daewon when I first came across this never-before-skated full-pipe spot in Long Beach, California. I just knew that I had to get him there. A couple months later we finally were able to check it out. We had a good 30 minutes to do our thing before the cops kicked us out, but we definitely got what we came for! A different frame from this shoot made the cover of TransWorld SKATEboarding magazine." -- Anthony Acosta
