Corey Martinez's travel essentials
Travel essentials with Corey Martinez
For over a decade, United Bike Co. pro Corey Martinez has been a hardened road warrior, putting in time on the road for classic videos such as Square 1's "Wide Awake Nightmare," Federal's "Traefalio" and a plethora of follow up video sections on both DVD and the web. Recently, on a stopover at Woodward, Martinez walked XGames.com through his travel essentials, from pads to shoes to supplements and more.
"When you are living out of a bag constantly with the only consistent routine being airports and hotels, it's important to have the essentials you need to better your days. I have been on the go traveling a lot this year filming for multiple video parts (United, Etnies, and Cinema) so I have learned what it takes for me to survive the world travels," says Martinez.
"I generally have a pair of shoes to ride in and a pair to nice comfy ones for travel. The Etnies Scouts are some of the lightest and breathable shoes I own so I always end up packing them. The Etnies Maranas are what I've been using to ride in for a while now. The cupsole holds up well for my type of riding," says Martinez.
Corey's health game
"I am always trying to stay on top of my health game so vitamins are a must. I eat all the time and have to have my snacks! My protein supplements pretty much consist of Quest bars and SFH powder mix. And I have BCAA supplement for added muscle recovery on those struggle days," says Martinez.
"After riding hard for a few days, my body tends to get beat up so this is always on deck as a just in case," says Martinez.
"No person should ever leave the house without their shades! I try to have at least two pair of my Arnette glasses with me while traveling. Here we have the Trooper and Dropout."
"When I'm not riding, I'm trying to document my trip so having an external battery charger comes in handy more than a few times. If I'm not happy with what the normal iPhone lens gives me, I toss on one of the lenses from the iPro lens system. Headphones are a must for me while traveling for obvious reasons."
Red Bull head gear
"I've been given the privilege to wear a Red Bull hat as an athlete, so there is always at least two with me. And it's never a bad thing to have a dome piece handy either," says Martinez.
"I finally stopped being lazy and got really tired of being banged up from not using my pads and have been better at actually using them these days."
On the road again
"Traveling is one of the best things to every happen to me. Once you start, you can't stop. I have met some of the most amazing humans and seen some life-changing places. I can't thank BMX, friends and family enough for the support to do what I love as a living," says Martinez.
