Face Time with Josh Mattson

The Santa Cruz local recovers from knee surgery and prepares to skate again.

Santa Cruz, Calif. local Josh Mattson, sponsored by Pocket Pistols Skateboards, ACE Trucks, Bones Wheels, Emerica (flow), Santa Cruz Board Room and Disaster 77 is one of those skaters who can show up and destroy any spot within minutes. Over the last few years, he has been turning heads on the contest circuit with a win at the 2010 Buena Vista Pool comp, first place in the 2010 Tim Brauch Memorial Contest, first place two years in a row at the Chili Bowl comp, and second place in the Malmo Ultra Bowl II competition. In early 2011, Mattson tore his ACL in his knee. After his surgery, Mattson was determined to get back on the board and made a quick recovery. ESPN.com sat down with Mattson and talked to him about physical therapy, getting over his fears and his predictions for contest comeback. Let's hope 2013 is a better year for Josh.
