Photos of Austrian freeskier Fabio Studer
Fabio Studer was born in the Kolbach region of Austria, near the Austria and Swiss border. After growing up ski racing, he got into freeskiing at age 14.
Big Mountain Finish
Last winter, Fabio ended up fifth overall on the 2013 Freeride World Tour, including a second place at the Chamonix, France, stop of the tour.
Traveling the World
"I had the chance to ski a lot of really cool faces, which motivated me," Fabio says about last year.
In addition to big-mountain contests, Fabio skis a lot of urban and park. He competed in Nine Knights Big Air and Red Bull Linecatcher last year as well.
He Skis It All
"I love the powder days and I love the good spring park days," Fabio says. "When there's powder, I ski powder and if there is no powder, I ski park."
In Front of the Camera
He also films with the European-based film company, Legs of Steel. Their new movie, called "The LOSt," is due out this fall.
This summer, Fabio will be surfing, swimming, playing soccer and spending time with his friends and family.
As for next year? He'll be back competing on the Freeride World Tour. "I believe if I ski to the best of my abilities, then I could be a contender to win a Freeride World Tour stop, and potentially be a contender to win the event overall," he says.
His Own Style
On the Freeride World Tour, Fabio is known for adding more freestyle tricks into his big-mountain lines.
More to Come
Fabio Studer, 27, is one of the more well-rounded freeskiers in the game.
