About Taka

Taka has many firsts at XG: In 2007, he became the first Japanese athlete to compete in an XG MTX event. In 2010, he became the first Japanese MTX competitor to medal, earning Best Trick bronze. In 2012, he was the first Japanese with Freestyle gold. In 2013, Taka was the most dominant freestyle competitor in the world. He won his third straight Freestyle gold in LA (the only competitor besides Travis Pastrana to do it thrice). XG 2014 Freestyle was canceled because of weather and Taka pulled out of QuarterPipe in 2015 with injury. Returned in 2016 to collect fourth place finishes in both Best Trick and Freestyle. Is very proud that 2017 is his 10th XG appearance.
