When EJ Poplawski made his X Games debut in 2010 it was also the first time he'd ever raced a snowmobile. A longtime competitive telemark and alpine skier, Poplawski ruptured an artery in his right leg in 2006 during a Telemark Extreme Freeskiing event in Crested Butte, Colo. His right leg was amputated just above his knee. Before Aspen 2016, Poplawski switched to the BioDapt Moto Knee and Versa Foot prosthetics built by Mike Schultz. He took bronze, his first XG medal. He will bring a much more powerful sled in 2017 and aims to give Schultz a proper run for gold.
- 2017 is his 6th year in XG SnoCross Adaptive. Best finish: Bronze in 2016.
- His right leg was amputated 4.5 inches above his knee in March '06 after a skiing accident.
- A winter sports nut, has also competed in telemark skiing (pre
- accident), alpine and snowboard events
