The defending Skier X gold medalist, Marte Gjefsen went from the hospital to the top of the podium at X Games Aspen 2012. With casts on both hands from a practice crash, she qualified first, and came from behind in every heat to win gold. The Viking Queen and two-time Olympian has 3 World Cup victories in 69 starts and is also a 5-time Swedish National Champion. At the 2015 National Championship she broke her collarbone and fractured a rib competing in the mogul finals. She continued to compete and won the ski cross National Championship. The 26-year-old is studying at the University of Stavanger to become a math teacher, and plays lacrosse for the Lady Hawks (university team).
