About Douglas

"Doguete", 25, loves X Games more than life itself. Growing up poor in Brazil one of his life goals was to compete on this stage. Now that he's here, he's all about one thing: owning the Big Air height record, even if he doesn't land an actual trick. At his first X Games, 2013 Foz do Iguacu, he broke Morgan Wade's long-standing Big Air record, going 22'1" in front of his home country fans, but immediately had it snatched away by Morgan at XG Barcelona, which Douglas didn't attend. The Brazilian cried the first time he set foot in the US at Woodward East in 2013 because it was a dream come true. Visa problems have made it difficult for him to travel over the past year and he will not get in any mega ramp practice until XG. NOTE: Douglas' last name was "Leite" during the 2013 season.

  • XG Austin 2016 will be his fourth Big Air appearance and his first Vert appearance; best finish, 4th in Big Air, 2014.
  • No Brazilian has ever won gold in XG BMX.
  • Jumped 22' 1", out of the quarterpipe in XG Big Air at Foz in 2013, second highest recorded height at X Games.
  • Won the high air award at MegaRamp events in Brazil in 2011 (20
  • ft 4
  • in) and 2012 (21
  • ft).
