Simon was left off the Canadian Olympic team in 2014, bagged groceries to make ends meet and had zero (0!) podium finishes in major contests before winning X Games Aspen 2015. He's the only Canadian to win the event. Unfortunately, Simon injured his left ACL/MCL at the end of the 2015 season. After an arduous, long recovery, he broke an ankle in September 2016, further delaying his return. He failed to get a clean pass at XG Aspen 2017 and finished 9th. The 2018 season started well with a 3rd at the Aug. 2017 World Cup in Cardrona, NZL. His grandparents, Sonya (née Butt) and Guy, were British spies during World War II and became heralded after the Allied victory.
