Swiss snowboarder Pat Burgener made history in December of 2016 when he became the first athlete ever to land a switch backside double cork in a halfpipe competition. He did so at the Copper Grand Prix/World Cup event, edging out good friend Iouri Podladtchikov for the win. Pat switched his focus from slopestyle and big air to halfpipe in 2015 and it seems to be working out well. The 22-year-old was the first snowboarder to land a switch backside triple cork 1440 (April 2011) but then suffered a string of injuries that left him sidelined for three years. In his downtime he cultivated his musical career, which has grown to be just as important to him as his snowboarding.
