Kayl (like the vegetable) spent his youth riding motocross and didn't start riding flat track until he was 14. Today he competes as a privateer, funding his racing through his own motorcycle repair shop, Kolkman Racing. He turned professional in 2009 and collected his lone career GNC2 win at Rapid City Half-Mile. Isn't a flashy or aggressive rider but he likes to be smooth and consistent. His best finish in 2015 was a ninth at Las Vegas.
