Daniel Dhers Specialized P20 setup
Daniel Dhers and his Specialized P20
X Games BMX Park competitor and five-time gold medalist Daniel Dhers turned heads in 2012 when he signed on with Morgan Hill, Calif. brand Specialized. Known for high-end road and mountain bikes, Specialized has sponsored such legendary BMX pros as T.J. Lavin in the past. And with Dhers, they've opened a new BMX chapter. "This bike brings me a lot of joy and smiles, we might fight here and there like any other rider and bike, but the good times are what count," says Dhers.
"Let me introduce you to my Specialized P20. She's hot, sexy and very fun to be around," says Dhers.
"Here's another look on those cables. It's funny when kids always wanna play with them like they have never seen them before. Oh wait, they haven't," said Dhers, on the popularity of brakeless riding, and his affinity for still riding a cable detangler.
"My bike likes to talk on my Verizon phone to order new bike parts, especially Sequoia bars from Tree Bike Co. and colorful grips from ODI," says Dhers.
"I ride a 28-tooth Tree sprocket, and I like the feel of a 9-tooth cassette driver when I crank on my 170mm Profile cranks. I need a new chain though," says Dhers.
"I have a gold Profile front hub with titanium bolts on the non-peg side and titanium spokes to make her glow. I have a Tree peg because that's what I trust. I don't mind the fork. I put whatever I found in my garage on this bike," says Dhers.
"I ride a Profile Acoustic stem flipped downside up because I want my bike to be taller than most bikes," says Dhers.
"I ride a Profile Elite cassette with a 9-tooth titanium driver and a titanium bolt on the non-peg side, and a Tree peg for long wheelies," says Dhers.
"I ride a 34R seat. It's good to treat yourself to a comfy seat because you know you'll be relying on that at some point in the future," says Dhers.
Fly Bikes lever
"I ride ODI grips because they're the softest. And the Fly lever is one of the more refined parts on my bike," says Dhers.
"One simple squeeze of my Fly brakes is all I need to stop," says Dhers.
"Colored nipples and rainbow titanium spokes make my bike vibrant and lightweight. Even my tires are fit and slender," says Dhers. Look for Daniel Dhers in the BMX Park competition at X Games Austin in June.
