Bus Life with Brody Wilson
Bus Life with Brody Wilson
It's September: Time to get back on the bus and go to school. But for freestyle motocross rider Brody Wilson, "getting back on the bus" carries a slightly different meaning. Welcome to Bus Life with Brody Wilson.
Back in service
Here is Brody Wilson's 1949 GM 3209 Coach used by N.J. Transit, complete with his Honda CRF450R. The bus appears to have been in service until the late 1960s. The bus still runs despite a rough engaging transmission -- his dad even drove it from their bus company to his riding course.
Freestyle Motocross athlete Brody Wilson has access to his family's bus company, and on it you can find a collection of buses both old and new. After having a look inside this beauty, XGames.com thought it would be fun to bring a bike inside and have some fun. But first, getting the bike into the bus proved to be a challenge. After squeezing the bike through the door, it had to be lifted over a seat to get it down the aisle.
It's not every day you see a Honda CRF450R in a bus built in 1949. In fact, we had never seen one inside before. With the dirt bike inside, we realized how little space we had to work with. Now it makes sense why you aren't allowed to do this on a city bus.
A burn out seemed like a great idea (in hindsight). A thin piece of wood was perfect to help fill the bus with smoke. Passengers, on the other hand, might not have enjoyed this so much.
Next best thing
Brody is well known for his big tricks and huge extensions, but with no room for a 'Kiss of Death Flip' inside, a wheelie was the next best thing.
Who hasn't dreamed of popping a wheelie on a bus while stuck in traffic? If you haven't, you might now.
More tire smoke, why not? It went from clean air to engulfed in smoke real quick.
Next stop, X Games
Brody Wilson preps for his stop.
Back in my day
This must have been what it was like back in the old days when smoking was allowed on public transportation. No, thanks.
This is normal, right?
With all of the shenanigans out of the way, it was time for Brody to relax like a normal passenger. Just a man and his dirt bike, on a bus. Seems normal, right?
Past and present
For this composite shot, we thought it would be fun to dress Brody as a greaser and a driver, along with his current moto gear to show past and present.
An experience like no other
Leaving the bus in style. The Wilson Bus Lines experience is like no other.
View from the bus
Old inside, new outside. This bus has seen some sights in its day, but none quite like this. Here, Brody Wilson stretches out a perfect 'Cordova Flip' just before sundown.
