Still Life: Helen Schettini
Backcountry rider Helen Schettini is beginning to cast a serious shadow in snowboarding circles with her bold demeanor and hard-earned respect. Here's a look back at her year.
Full speed ahead
"I used to go for bike rides with Helen and she would always be pedaling way ahead of me. "'Chill out, can't you just cruise for a second?' I'd say.'Don't you want to keep the momentum going?!' was her response. That's Helen -- with everything: Full speed ahead." -- Whistler legend Rube Goldberg

Whistler while you work
Making the most out of tricky terrain in tight trees is a big part of the backcountry equation in B.C.
All Day I Dream About...
Joining the adidas team means she'll be trading lines and airs with the likes of Eric Jackson. Schettini could probably even grow a beard like E-Jack's if she put her mind to it but we're really hoping she doesn't.
Slash and burn
Schettini reaps the rewards of a gajillion Whistler pow days with some very fast boys and gets this line all to herself.
"I loveto shoot with her as much as I love being her friend because she is open-minded enough to try everything hard. Even more so, she'sstubborn enoughto not give up or let anything/onebreak her stride." -- Photographer, Ashley Barker
This Banff pillow line needs some serious fluffing up still, but Schettini's not scared.
Helen Schettini's success has been 100 percent earned. Some might even call it "methodical," but that would be corny ... Schettini in Valle Nevado, Chile.
Goals and goalposts
"Helen rips on a board, on a sled, at life, evenat the gym. You only wish you could see her bod; this babegives it 110 percent on a daily basis." -- Photographer, Ashley Barker
Do the terrain options in your backyard include features like this? No? Maybe you should move to Whistler.
Life motto? Hel. YES.
