BMX Big Air finals start at 7 p.m. PT.

Defending BMX Big Air champ Chad Kagy will be staring down some new faces when he drops in for Thursday night's Big Air finals at X Games 17. Here's a few other contenders for the podium.

Jed Mildon got a last-minute invite Wednesday, replacing injured rider Coco Zurita, and could be reprising the triple backflip over the gap that he first landed in May in his hometown of Taupo, New Zealand. (The YouTube clip of the that triple flip now has nearly 8 million page views.)

Australian rider Vince Byron finished in second place at the MegaRamp Invitational in Sao Paolo, Brazil, and the MegaRamp Open at Woodward West early this year, and he's been holding his own on the vert ramp on the Dew Tour and other events (he finished in sixth place in BMX Vert at X Games 16).

Colton Satterfield is a hungry rookie living in Salt Lake City, Utah, who's been popping up at recent contests and making a name for himself both on the Dew Tour and in the MegaRamp Championship series. He's been hitting the MegaRamp at Woodward West and could bring some surprises Thursday night.

With some of the sport's heaviest hitters out with injuries -- including BMX Big Air gold medalist Kevin Robinson and 2011 MegaRamp Open champ Morgan Wade -- the night's competition could be wide open.
